DRAWINGS

Drawing is where I’m most confident, and always return to. Pen and ink is a favourite for me, I now add ink washes to pencil for tone and often use watercolour for a little bit of interest. Never been a fan of a sheet white background.


Learning who someone is, and at the same time creating someone new when depicting them is at the heart of my work. This carries over to nature, which I find difficult but rewarding. Drawing trees is a similar experience to drawing people, they have a great spiritual depth. Being in Cornwall has been great for exploring this.
